Tournament Schedule and Events

CLOSEST TO THE PIN (CTP)
If you competed in the Alpha Home Tour, you’re familiar with this format. During this challenge, players receive five chances to land their shot closest to the pin. With no winds and ideal weather conditions, the real challenge is the course itself.

3-HOLE STROKE PLAY
The point of this traditional competition format is to drop your ball in the cup with as few strokes as possible. At the end of the three holes, your score will be tallied. Unlike the majority of our formats, you’ll only get one chance to play through each hole.

5-HOLE STROKE PAY
This is a slight variation of the 3-Hole Stroke Play format. At the end of the five holes, your score will be tallied. Remember, you’ll only get one chance to play through each hole.

FLOP WALL CHIPPING CTP
If you enjoy trick shots, this round is for you. You’ll need to finesse your ball over a tall wall without overshooting the pin. Each player gets five chances to land closest to the pin.

LONG PUTT CHALLENGE
There are some greens that seem to go on for miles, and those are the greens we’ll be showcasing in this challenge. Take your time to get the lay of the land because each of your five shots will count.

FLOATING GREEN CTP
You’ll need to know the distance off each club in your bag to land this shot. The green may be flat, but it’s a small target floating in the middle of a large lake. You’ll have five shots to land on the green instead of in the drink.

WIND STORM CTP
Wind Storm puts slightly less focus on the challenges of the course (although we won’t go easy on you in that department) and more focus on your ability to adjust to your environment. You'll have five chances to fight the winds to land closest to the pin.

5. Weekly Event Winners:

a. Weekly Event Prize Pool

i. 1st – $1,000 USD

ii. 2nd – Yeti Cooler

iii. 3rd – Patagonia Bag

b. A tie is defined as multiple participants with the same score at the top of the leader board at the completion of an event. Tie Breaker Rules will be used to determine 1st through 3rd place. If more than three players tie for the lowest score, participants who fall below the first three players using Tie Breaker Rules will be awarded a consolation prize (aG branded gifts).

c. Tie Breaker Rules

i. Closest to the Pin Competitions – aG measures distance to two significant digits (hundredths). In the event of a tie based on distance (including multiple hole-in-ones, reported as zero distance), a winner shall be determined by the lowest number of shots taken to achieve the distance. For example, if a hole-in-one was made on the first shot, the player would be considered in first place. If multiple people hit the same distance on the same number of shots, the timestamp of the best shot will be used—normalized by time zone—to determine the player who first achieved the distance.

ii. Stroke-Play – aG uses USGA matching scorecards (aka scorecard count-back) rules to break ties in stroke-play contests – see committee procedures 5A section 6, Matching Scorecards. In the rare case a tie still exists, the timestamp will be used—normalized by time zone—to determine the player who first achieved the score.

iii. Longest Drive – aG measures distance down to two significant digits (hundredths). In the event of a tie based on distance, a winner shall be determined by the lowest number shots taken to achieve the distance. In the rare case a tie still exists, the timestamp will be used—normalized by time zone—to determine the player who first achieved the distance.

6. Tour or Series Champion

a. The participant who holds the most points at the end of the Tour or Series will be awarded $10,000 USD.

b. In the event there are multiple players tied for first place at the end of the Tour or Series, the prize money will be divided equally across those players.

7. Alpha Tour players consent to their participant and/or username being displayed on any Alpha Tour leaderboard image used on any materials created by aboutGOLF. aboutGOLF also reserves the right to use participant and/or usernames in media and promotional activities.

8. As part of the requirement of USGA rules and standards, an amateur must waive their right to accept prize money to maintain amateur status.

9. aboutGOLF may make changes to the Alpha Tour Rules & Regulations at any time and is not obligated to notify participants of said changes. All changes to Alpha Tour Rules & Regulations will be effective upon posting
