We’re Making Our Golf Sim Software Better than Ever!
At aboutGOLF, we’re always striving to provide the best possible experience to all our customers. With that in mind, our development team has been diligently working on a slew of improvements to our software’s design and functionality based on feedback collected from the aG community. These updates will be available on aboutGOLF simulators beginning on Tuesday, January 18th. For a full description of the changes that we’ve made, check out the video below or keep reading. You can also find the full training manual for the new software here.
In this update, our software is getting a major facelift. This new streamlined experience has made it easier than ever to get around the simulator with improvements that will have you on the first tee faster than ever. Here are some of the changes that you can look forward to:
New Toolbar Menu
One of the first things that you’ll notice when you boot up the updated simulator software is the new and improved toolbar which resides on the left side of the main menu screen. This toolbar contains handy navigational icons to get you to the home screen, utilities menu, and help manuals. The help manuals are now available on the main menu, round play, practice range, games, events, club fitting, flix and balance screens.
In addition, the new toolbar includes a disk icon which will bring up a menu allowing you to access your saved rounds and shots as well as a timer icon which will allow users to set, add and cancel timers limiting play time. This is particularly useful for indoor golf centers to keep customers on schedule and run their centers more efficiently.
We’ve also revamped the Quit icon to make it easy to access the menu, exit your aboutGOLF simulator, shutdown windows, or cancel other toolbar options. In addition, the new sound icon allows users to easily toggle sound on/off in the simulator.
Easier Login and Member Improvements
This new software update also introduces a simplified way to login or view which users are currently logged in to your golf sim. Active members are now displayed in tickertape fashion at the upper right of setup screens. Active members can be edited by either clicking the “Login with Members” icon in the upper left or by clicking “Members” from the bottom of the toolbar. Players can still login by entering the sim code (located at the top right of the screen) in their aG Locker Mobile App.
Simplified Desktop Icons
With this build we’ve retired the use of the Links launcher application and moved Links functionality into the main aG simulator software. The aim of this change was to make navigating between all the amazing golf offerings in our software simpler than ever. Now aG users can easily jump between their favorite parts of the software like the range, rounds, and mini games.
Round Play Enhancements
Also new to this update are a variety of improvements to the process of playing a round of golf. For example, we’ve added a new scrolling course selector, course filtering, and a search function to make finding the perfect course a breeze. When a course is selected from the list, information about that course will display along with buttons to access a video or PDF with additional course info. We’ve also added a display of the total yardage for each tee so that players can make more informed decisions about which tee to play.
Another new enhancement to round play is a ticker displaying distance, elevation and terrain lie information to users allowing them to think about their club selection ahead of their turn.
Practice Range Enhancements
For those looking to improve their golf skills on the range, there is a new scrolling list selector and filters allowing you to easily view and select from our collection of range venues.
Who doesn’t love a good competition? We’ve renamed the aG Tour section of the software to Events and there you’ll be able to find the current selection of online events for players to participate in and compete for prizes.
Mini Games Updates
Much like the eponymous girls in the Cyndi Lauper song, some golfers just want to have fun, too. That’s where our mini games like corn hole, beer pong, and mini golf come in. In this update, we’re introducing new touchscreen support so that these mini games will no longer require a mouse and keyboard. We’ve also added a new 3Trak arming indicator to allow users to know when the system is ready to track their shot in mini games. Lastly, timer support has been added to the mini games and will carry across between the main golf simulator application and the mini games.
Bug Fixes and Other Quality of Life Improvements
Improved support for slow Internet connections where using online members would cause to act sluggish or appear temporarily frozen. Certain files are now uploaded in the background to alleviate this issue for online member use.
Utilities screen additions: TeamViewer and Update Center Setup buttons added to the Utilities screen.
Removed Sim Hit Location removed from the round and range shot interface as only the Shot Type tracking control is needed.
Removed the Quick Start Player option from the main menu and moved to members.
We hope that these improvements will make your time in our golf simulators even more enjoyable. As always, we welcome any and all feedback from our users and are available to assist you with any questions or concerns that you may have.
